Finished construction and overall I am satisfied. I had some issues with pieces not detaching cleanly or easily from the sheet (starting with Sheet E) and also a few extremely tight fits (especially with sections F, H, I and K) as others have mentioned. Ultimately these were an expected aspect of the build process. But, my biggest issue is that the stain used didn’t seem to be dry or set and within minutes of working with the product my fingers would become stained reddish brown (hopefully, in the future, the casual handling of the product won’t result in a similar transfer effect and won’t effect the game components).

One suggestion for future designs: better ability to handle storing the box on it’s side (so perhaps add ‘tops’ or other ways to keep the bits in place. I store almost all of my games vertically, so I have to use a box-band for Eclipse to keep the lid shut and avoid bits falling out of the insert. (I have similar issues with the Scythe and Terraforming Mars inserts from Daedalus).

This was a complex build, but the instructions and video were clear and very helpful (and I enjoyed the build process). I look forward to buying more inserts in the future.

This organizer is absolutely fantastic. If you are a fan of this game and play it a lot, it’s definitely worth the money to buy this organizer insert kit. It took a while to assemble (maybe 6 hours?) but it is worth it, and was pretty fun to put together if you’re into that sort of thing. If you’re not, I bet one of your gaming friends would be willing to build it for you if you provide pizza and beer! The setup instructions are thorough and easy to understand. While building the kit, I found that blue painter’s tape (or regular masking tape) was helpful in holding all the wood together at the correct angles while the glue cured. I agree with the reviewer Ryan – I’d recommend sanding in places where there might be splinters. I didn’t find very much sanding was required, but it did help give some of the pieces a cleaner fit.

After you’ve assembled the kit, I recommend printing out the organizer layout guide and keeping it in the box because it is hard to put everything away when you’re done playing unless you have the box layout guide on hand.

Honestly if I could give this 6 stars I would. 10/10 would purchase again.

First things first – this organizer is dope. It organizes the hundreds of pieces in an easy, accessible manner that also manages to look incredibly aesthetically appealing. I cannot stress enough how great the finished product is. I cannot imagine going back to playing Eclipse without it.

Now, like everything in life, this organizer comes with a price and I am not talking about simple dollar bills. The time it takes to assemble this organizer is in the neighborhood of 5-10 hours, depending on how detail oriented you want to be. For me, being very detail oriented, I filed/sanded each piece, used a knife to cut out some of the more stubborn pieces, and even had a brown sharpie on hand to do touch up work. Be prepared for an intense bit of work. The assembly video Daedalus provides here on their webpage is A+ awesome and will help you out tons.

When all is said and done, this organizer is fantastic and is a must-have for any Eclipse owner. Cheers!

I just finished assembling mine, and overall I’m pretty happy with it.
First, I’m aware that this isn’t designed to accommodate shadow of the rift. That being said, I was able to get every hex into the storage tray, even if a few had to be shuffled over to the III stack, so I’m very pleased with that. There is just enough space also for the new discovery tiles.

My only real complaint is regarding some of the storage trays for the original 6 colors of ship tokens. I’ll email the details rather than post a huge wall of text, but suffice to say, I had a very hard time getting some of the ship pack one tokens to fit alongside their generic counterparts. Aside from that however, I’m very happy with the product.

Great till I got to part G. Quality control issue happening with pieces needing to be sanded a ton before they will fit into place. Been working at one piece for a couple hours and still will not fit correctly. For 55$ plus shipping this should never happen.
    • Thank you for this comment, I will look into what is going on and alter the design to make sure this is not a problem in the future.

A great insert that takes one of my favourite games to new levels!

This is the insert that your favourite game deserves! It’s so beautiful and well thought out. From the moment you hand out a separate wonderful wooden box to every player with their alien race to the moment the game is packed down in minutes rather than quarters is just amazing. Love the design and how it all fits in the box.

The token trays are great and I wouldn’t want to play the game without the tray for the upgrade-tokens. I love the small details such as setup rules on the tray-lids and the way the map-tile-tray looks on the table.

The only downsides are that when in the box it doesn’t etirely fill the box and the token trays are open top, this means taht if you transport it roughly or store it vertically some tokens might shuffle around in the box.

It took awhile to get to me however it was well worth the wait! I purchased the assembled Eclipse tray. I never knew a insert could be a work of art too. Just gorgeous. Everything fits well. Some of the chunkier ships you will have to set in your tray just the right way to fit but that’s not a big deal. I’m happy with my purchase and the only suggestion would be is have a printed diagram where everything goes in the box. I had to watch the video a few times to figure it out. A PDF file here would work too. Great Product!

Greatly speeds up setup and cleanup times, but also the round times, much thanks to the excellent ship parts trays. That, and it’s great look, really adds to the whole gaming experience. If you like Eclipse, you will like it even more with this insert.

The only thing I’m missing is a tray for the science track. I don’t know how well it would work in wood, and it wouldn’t fit in the game box with this insert. Might wan’t to check out Game Trayz.

Beautiful insert and solidly assembled (I went with the pre assembled option as I am an unskilled baboon). The setup and tech replenishment etchings are incredibly useful, it’s such a nice touch!

I have a few bits of feedback though. Everything fits together in the box very specifically, I had to watch the video a few times to see how everything fits in. A diagram showing how the inserts fit into the box would be helpful. Also, the green ships from Ship Pack One tend to poke out of the tray a little. They need a little help to fit flush against the tray above them.

Those points aside, the insert really does help in setup and teardown times. I heartily recommend this if you’re at all concerned with having an organized box, quicker setup times, and some nice built in play aids (the etchings). The stain shade looks rather sharp on my gaming table as well!
